Monday Night Hockey tops NFL showcase

Monday Night Football delivers a matchup between two struggling teams tonight, so Canadian bettors who aren’t thrilled about the gridiron action can turn to the ice where four of Canada’s NHL teams will be in action.
The Monday nighter pits Cleveland against Buffalo (-5 at PinnacleSports.com), with both teams coming off a loss in Week 10. The Browns were upended by Denver 34-30 as a 3-point favorite, while the Bills fell to New England 20-10 as a 3.5-point favorite.
The Browns had the opportunity to get a win against the Broncos but their defense was unable to hold a 13-point lead. Cleveland looked good on offense in the loss, as Brady Quinn made his first career start and passed for 239 yards with a pair of touchdown strikes to tight end Kellen Winslow.
Winslow had his most productive game of the season with 10 receptions for 111 yards, and as long as Quinn is behind center he should continue to catch plenty of passes.
Buffalo’s loss to New England was their third straight and, to make matters worse, all three of those losses came again divisional opponents, which dropped them into the AFC East basement.
The Bills’ offense was quiet against the Patriots and put up only 168 yards in the loss. Trent Edwards passed for only 120 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions, while Marshawn Lynch was held to 46 yards on 14 carries.
The remedy for Buffalo’s offensive woes could be a visit from a Browns defense that allowed Denver to gain 564 yards last week.
Cleveland and Buffalo played in the snow last season and the weather was a major factor in an 8-0 Browns victory. Cleveland was a 4.5-point favorite in the win.
No touchdowns were scored in the game, as the Browns’ points came on two field goals and a safety. There’s no call for snow on Monday night, and the Bills are a 5-point favorite.

The Canucks head to New York to face the Islanders after defeating Toronto 4-2 over the weekend. Pavol Demitra returned to the lineup for the Canucks and made an impact right away with three assists.
The Maple Leafs host the Bruins in an Original Six matchup on Monday night. The Leafs and Bruins have already faced off twice this season with each team winning once on the road.
Boston will be looking to get back on track after having their five-game winning streak snapped on Saturday night against the Rangers.
The Oilers will be in tough Monday, as they venture to Joe Louis Arena to battle the Red Wings. Edmonton has lost two in a row after a 3-2 overtime loss to Colorado over the weekend, while Detroit went through Florida late last week and picked up wins over the Panthers and the Lightning.
The Senators have hit the skids lately and take on the Rangers on Monday riding a four-game losing streak. Ottawa was outscored 12-4 in those games, and they need to get their offense going to get back into the win column.
