Match Analysis

With Derrick Rose sitting on the side-lines, the Bulls couldn’t make it two straight wins against the Celtics as Boston came away with a hard fought 95-91 win to even the regular season series at one game apiece.

With Rose in the line-up, Chicago had no problems beating Boston in the first meeting of the season as Rose scored 25 points to lead his team to an 88-79 victory back in January.

Rose will still be out for this game, unable to recover from his back spasms in time for tip off.

The Celtics are now 15-12 straight-up and 13-14 against the spread.

Age and injury appear to be the main reason for Boston’s inconsistencies this season as the wear and tear of an accelerated schedule has already taken its toll.

Chicago has shown its incredible balance and depth with players such as Carlos Boozer, Luol Deng, and Joakim Noah all stepping-up to fill the void with Rose missing, but defence remains the key for the Bulls as they are ranked third in the league in points conceded.

Boston could be without forward Kevin Garnett for a second straight game because of a hip flexor.

Match Verdict

Without Derrick Rose playing, the Celtics will breathe a sigh of relief because I don’t think they stand a chance if Rose were to play. Neither team looked great in their last outing as the Bulls struggled to beat a bad Sacramento team, while the Celtics lost at home to Detroit. Even with Kevin Garnett possibly out and the fact that they are playing back to back games, I think it’s still just a couple of points too high to be giving a proud Celtics squad looking to recover from last night’s mess. Therefore I will be going with the Celtics spread here.
